1. Market & Setup

Know what you're trading and where price is.

News, catalyst or important event checked. Key support, resistance and important levels marked. Broader trend and current price structure checked. Momentum and volume checked for the trading style I'm using.

2. Trade Plan

Define the trade before capital goes in.

Entry area or trigger identified. Invalidation or stop area identified. Realistic target area identified. Position size and potential loss are acceptable.

3. Execution

Make sure the plan still makes sense when it's time to act.

I'm not chasing an extended move. I'm waiting for my trigger or confirmation instead of anticipating it. I know what would make me abandon the trade idea. The entry still offers enough room before the next support, resistance or other key level.

4. Final Reminder

A checklist helps you remember the plan. It does not make the decision for you.

I understand why I'm entering this trade. I know where I'm wrong if the trade does not behave as expected. I'm willing to follow the plan after I enter. I'm comfortable doing nothing if the trade is not ready.
